Really, it does lead one to ask, Is your "F" school really worth it?

Let's see, financial discrepancies, high teacher turnover, "F" school, multiple investigations, cleanliness concerns, lack of proper supplies and equipment in classrooms, unstable, undefined curriculum....

Always something with Newpoint Education Partners...and always someone else's fault. Ha

What are they trying to hide? Seriously?! Not even defending your company practices, or offering a legitimate accounting of how you spent PUBLIC FUNDS!!!! And how many parents who have their kids enrolled at this school (for lack of a better term) will continue to defend them?

Charter school payback: Newpoint Education Partners is repaying $75,000 in federal grant money that went to the East Windsor Middle Academy in St. Petersburg rather than account for how the money was spent. The company, which owns and operates five charter schools in Pinellas County, sent the check to the school district. It said its former accounting firm had not followed the necessary documentation procedures allowing it to be eligible for the grant."

No surprise

Newpoint Education Partners, "F" School Windsor Prep, and now East Windsor Middle sure don't disappoint, now do they?

Money Makes the World Go Around

Money makes the world around, doesn't it? Well, the Charter School "Professionals" sure seem to think so. In fact, they know it...that's why they are in the game so to speak.

Let's look at a couple of interesting articles shall we?

Yard Sale

So, is everyone excited to get a chance to waste hard earned money purchase some "F" school Windsor Prep cast offs treaasures?

Last post removed

Well folks, after contacting the Pinellas County School Board, and reviewing the updated "F" school Windsor Prep's staff directory page it seems as though Miss Carter is no longer employed by them.

Montana vs. Florida

Interesting read...I love how they use the proliferation of Charter schools in Florida as the example of how they DON'T want to be.

Big Corporations, Jeb Bush's Shame, and Charter School Fallacies

A February Baltimore Sun article written by the former Maryland State, and Philadelphia Superintendent of Schools states:

" ...Mixed academic results: Charters, on the whole, do not result in significant improvement in student performance. It's mixed at best. In some evaluations, charter schools overall actually underperform regular public schools.

Jeb Bush and his Industry of Corruption

To quote the brilliant activist blogger Diana Ravitch,:
"Jeb Bush is trying to present himself to the public as a moderate. Nothing could be farther from the truth. When it comes to education, Jeb Bush boasts of the wonderful transformation of the schools in Florida, but that is not an accurate portrayal of what Bush actually did. With his far-right dedication to privatization, he has created a voracious industry of greed, which relies on the public’s gullibility. Some of his allies are getting very rich, but the children of Florida are not benefitting by the opening and closing of charter schools, many of which operate for-profit."

She  is citing this article :

How Jeb Bush's Florida Plan for School "Choice" Created an Industry of Corruption and chaos by Jeff Bryant

Both are great reads and I recommend them highly.

This is another great article on the corrupt environment surrounding Charter Schools and the questionable relationships many have with their "management" companies.

Cheap Grub and Poor Service

I knew not very many seemed inclined to attend, but I thought there would be more than this:

Tuesday, September 8, 2015

Wait....what?

I was just talking to another "F" school Windsor Prep Academy neighbor about the traffic mess, and two things:

Are Charter Schools Unconstitutional?

So, while one group of teachers are trying to figure how to boil water and calculate the amount of pasta to prepare for a smallish group of people, another is apparently wondering if in the long run, they will even have jobs.

Perhaps this charming group at "F" school Windsor Prep, and their other money maker  school, East Windsor Middle Academy should worry too.

Ooooh, the clouds are rolling in, perchance there is a chance of meatballs?

I know, I know. That one was just so easy, lol.

Would You Like Meatballs With That?

I wonder....will there be a question and answer session, or are we all expected to sit there and smile like the fools it seems they think we are?

You Couldn't Have Managed This Before? (updated)

Update: I personally felt that the first day seemed to go better, but after viewing a video, seeing a few pictures, the BayNews9 story, and talking to my neighbors I guess I was wrong.
In my defense I was not home for part of the first or second days, so I stand corrected.

It's D-day for the F school

Well folks....that day we all dread has arrived. "F" school Windsor Prep is back in session.
It has been a lovely and peaceful summer, hasn't it? Or did some of you miss our streets being used as a parking lot, fighting parents ( off course one of this writers neighbors did see two parents going at it this past Wednesday during the open house for kindergarten and first graders...Classy), speeding, stop sign running, lanes being blocked, mail boxes being run over, lawns and landscaping being damaged, and of course the traffic back ups.

1 week out

Well...we're just a few days out from the disaster known as "F" School Windsor Preparatory Academy, and the adjoining (Newpoint Education Partners run school) East Windsor Middle School, and I thought it would be fun to re-share a video of what traffic was like last year.

Another Satisfied (former) Employee?

I haven't taken the time to research this ( I will), but the writer was not afraid to identify them self. They also had interesting things to say about their experience working for NewPoint Education Partners.

Public funds for Private profit

So, imagine starting a company (company 1). That company then forms a second company (company 2) which in turn applies for, and receives potentially millions in public funds, solicits donations from individuals and companies, and often provides sub par services.
They then hire another company (company 3)  as a"management company" that has in actuality been opened by company 1 as well. The "management company/company 3"will then build and rent property and supplies to company 2, and make the "original company/company 1" quite wealthy.
If the "business" fails, Company 1 will walk away with no repercussions, and be left with a lot of assets to sell.
Further, they will be free to repeat the whole scenario over and over and over.

What ever will that business be you ask? Take a guess...

Then why the shenanigans? (updated)

Looks like Bill is more concerned with harassing the writer of this "meaningless" blog
(that means oh so little to him), than he is with looking for a good tutor for his kid(s).
Frankly that's where my focus would be . After all, Windsor Prep is an "F" School.

His latest:

Bill - Windsor Parent has left a new comment on your post "Is your "F" School Windsor Prep worth it?":

No, your little blog doesn't bug me at all. I enjoy watching you make an ass of yourself. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to your "tricks".

Hmmm...do you talk to your mom or your kids with that mouth? Oh wait, you probably do.

And frankly "Bill", I think this blog does bother you, despite your protests otherwise. How else would you explain the pathetic need to try to antagonize and mock me? Are you desperately needing to feel empowered? After all, your actions contradict your words.

What's the line your teacher friends and the other Windsor minion(s) without a cause like to say to many of us? Oh right, they say we should all get jobs. Well, since I have one that I enjoy very much, as do most of my neighbors, perhaps I should make that same suggestion to you.

Then maybe you wouldn't have the time to keep me so amused.

And..maybe then you could afford to place your Child/children in an actual private school, rather than a tax payer funded "F' school, managed by a for profit company that is only offering your child/children a public school curriculum based education.

You know, an actual for the kids school, rather than this one, which is in the bottom 300 schools statewide. That, puts them in the bottom 12% of Public and Charter  Schools in the whole STATE!! And, 12% is only counting public elementary schools. The number gets even worse if you factor in all schools. Then "F" school Windsor Prep drops into the bottom 6%.

A school that isn't managed by a shady management company, with a questionable board, etc etc etc.

A school that wouldn't have lied to children and their families as to whether they could actually attend the school, when it was clear they could not. That was especially nice considering the high ratio of underprivileged  kids that go to "F" school Windsor Prep. It must have been a real burden when they had purchased uniforms, supplies, etc and then not only couldn't use them, but now had to purchase more. But who cares, right?

Really shows that all of you are fighting for the very best for your kids, huh?

But you just keep on fighting, insulting, harassing, and trolling me and this blog. Keep insulting and harassing my neighbors. Keep acting like we are the bad guys, while Newpoint Education rakes in literally millions over the next few years providing this "quality" F class education.

Oh how I could go on.

(insert smiley face)

Latest message from "Bill, Windsor Parent":

Bill - Windsor Parent has left a new comment on your post "Random Funny":

Random Funny

This just amused me...

Remember last year when the new "F" School Windsor Prep Academy/ East Windsor Academy building was under construction? And they knew it wouldn't be done on time? And they kicked out all those innocent kids that they promised could attend despite not having a facility to house them in?

Maybe the Pinellas County Public School Curriculum Will Help

Thank goodness "F" school Windsor Prep was forced to revert to the Pinellas County Public schools curriculum. Maybe whoever runs their webpage will learn how to spell.

Hahaha
I just visited their website. It's amusing, how eloquently they describe what essentially boils down to "We teach what the public schools teach, and we take advantage of free training from Pinellas County Schools as well"

This from their site: "At Windsor Prep and East Windsor, our philosophy and approach to education is to provide an academic experience that exceeds all other school offerings. Windsor currently utilizes curriculum that is rich in current common core standards and expectations for all students. Our teachers have been extensively trained in their curriculum areas, as well as in common core.Windsor staff not only partake in District professional development, but also school level trainings as they pertain to our program."   (as you can see, grammar is an issue too)
I underlined "exceeds all other school offerings" because the humor is almost too much to bear. If they exceed all other school offerings, then the question has to be "do they mean their own,and now the public school curriculum exceeds their original educational approach"? 'Cause let's be real, if you're teaching what the other guy is teaching, then aren't you now just another cog in the machine? Same old, same old? A wildcat  er I mean copy cat?

Just curious

In 2013, the Tampa Bay Times published this article, Tampabay.com, on a Hillsborough County Charter school possibly charging inappropriate fees.

"Don't pressure parents to give money, they advised the school. As a recipient of state funding, schooling is supposed to be free. Don't use invoices for donations, as these imply an obligation.
And check with the governing board before a child is tossed out because his parents did not volunteer enough hours.
Just what can be expected of charter school parents is a hot topic as the movement continues to flourish in Florida and nationwide.

Fl House Bill SB1448 Addresses Conlflicts of Interest, Failing Schools, and more

From an April article on the League of Women's Voters site: http://lwveducation.com

Hmmm...conflict of interest...you mean like when the deputy assigned to handle the traffic complaints made by over thirteen residents, complaints of property damage, false 911 calls etc is actually married to the assistant to "F" School Windsor Prep's principal. That kind of conflict? No, I guess not. I guess that would be something that you would have expected the deputy to have been decent, and honorable enough to have divulged. Sadly, it shows all too clearly, that as a neighborhood seeking help, we expected to much of the members representing that agency.

Or maybe it's addressing a Charter having a board that has members integrally involved with the management company? That is actually what the bill is striving to prevent, as Charter boards have had a less than stellar history of unbiased governance. In Florida alone, there have been incidents of investors, family members of investors and administrators, and even family members of legislators serving on boards.

Seems a few updates are needed....

Oh really? newpointeducation.com

Charter Schools Capital sues Newpoint Education Partners: www.pnj.com

NewPoint used Bay County funds in Pensacola Schools: www.newsherald.com
"...Newpoint was cited June 16 for violating Department of Education rules. An investigation by Adam Emerson, charter schools director, revealed that 80 items purchased with charter school program funds were delivered to Newpoint Schools in Escambia County. Sixty-five computers, tables and monitors meant for Newpoint Bay ended up in Escambia.
“This is a clear violation of CSP requirements, which restrict items purchased with CSP funds to schools that were awarded those funds,” Emerson wrote to John Stack, vice president of Newpoint operations..."

Happy Independence Day

Before we all go heading off to our holiday fun, I'd like to pause a moment and give many thanks to the men and women who fought to establish our Country's independence some 239 years ago and built this great nation, granting us freedom of religion, of speech, taxation with representation, and so much more.

I am eternally grateful for those who sacrificed their lives to protect our country's shores at times, and for those who fought to hold this country together not even 100 years later.

I want to give thanks to, and honor the memory of the 207,590 U.S. war dead from  World War I, and World War II, who died on foreign soil, and were buried there, to protect not just our freedoms, but the world's as well. And more thanks still, in honor of the men and women who have fought and died to protect our allies, and the rights of the abused, in the decades since.

What I do here is often sarcastic, but it is a privilege that none of should ever take for granted. That I am free to approach all of this with caustic derision, does not belie the fact we are blessed, and have been gifted a powerful right that many others do not have.

Charter School Financial Problems Are Rampant

Financial mismanagement has left one out of every eight Charter Schools in the state running a deficit. In Pinellas four of the twenty two charter schools are, including Newpoint Pinellas High.
TampaBay Times
This is the direct link to the report from the state Auditor General Report 2015-192

This a great article detailing the collapse of Acclaim Schools. It really shows the shaky footing and shady financial maneuvering many of these companies are guilty of. It's not uncommon for many Charter School companies to have a string of failed schools behind them as they are trying to open more. What they leave in their wake are devastated students, teachers who aren't getting paid, and counties left to pick up the pieces. Jacksonville.com

Just the facts folks

Keep in mind folks, just because you find info on a blog doesn't mean that is all there is. Or that it is true. Research it. Dig. Know where your tax dollars are going. I have learned so much from some of these incredible bloggers who have incredible time and effort into what they post. BUT, I have only used the info I find there as a launching point to do my own research. It's amazing how much you can find. Thank God for the Sunshine Law which means everything has to be available for review.

That said....

Fun and games in pretty colors (updated)

Oh Chunk. You and your special friend(s)are acting like the third graders they teach. I called you pumpkin because if you really believe that your first set of comments was a polite and friendly approach, then your brain is soft and squishy inside...much like a pumpkin is.

Your newest missive barely merits a response, but your efforts at insults do so amuse me that I find I can not resist.

$$$$It's All(ways) About The Money, The Moolah, The unlimited Tax Dollars $$$$$

Scroll through and really read the budget amounts. Granted, this is from 2013, but as you read it, know these numbers only increase as enrollment does.

Pages 26, and  27  (especially 27) really show why these guys so selflessly offer to open and manage these schools.  Myflorida.com

Now think about this:

WTSP.COM

GALEGROUP

charterschoolscandals.blogspot.com Just to show it's been a long term issue

Charter Schools Don't Need an Ad Campaign. They Need Regulation

Jacksonville.com (Finally!!!)

Now consider this article in The Daily Kos

Not that I'm accusing or implying anything untoward regarding "F" school Windsor Prep. I'm just pointing out issues with Charter Schools in general.

Did I forget to mention Newpoint School and the "Japanese Penis Festival"?

Maybe not such a good idea? No? Good with this?

Pensacola News Journal

Rick'sBlog

This is the best the school could come up with to show diversity of culture?

Our tax dollars pay for this folks!!!!

Care about the kids?

Here's more on what has occurred in a Newpoint Education Partners school (cause I hear the teachers and parents care so much)

Pensacola News Journal

Whoops!

Newpoint Education Partners upholding family values too?

While no convictions, there are A LOT of charges and "questionable" situations, wouldn't you agree. Silly me, of course you would. I mean facts are facts, right?
More arrests possible in Newpoint case

And it appears when the schools fail that there is not a lot of loyalty to the staff:
InWeekly     (which from the behavior many of us have witnessed, I kinda get it)
This a related article to catch you up if you haven't read any previous posts: INWeekly and weartv.com

Additionally, if this is how the schools in other counties are being run, how do we know the 2 "F" schools here in Pinellas County aren't? Hmmmmmmmm Rick'sBlog

Here's another brief, but interesting article. Love the 2nd set of comments especially: ricksblog

And then you start to wonder...is it the leadership? Rick'sBlog: The mystery man behind Newpoint Education Partners

John Stack- Cambridge, Executive Director; Newpoint, Vice President of Ohio Operations
David Stiles- Cambridge, Operations & Development; Newpoint, Vice President of Operations and Development

So lying, cheating, misappropriation of funds and equipment, cheating employees out of their rightful pay. Yes, just what all the kids need to be learning, and paid for by our tax dollars.

Here we go again....Yawn

Well fearless readers, another brand new account has been opened in order to leave comments  insults directed at this author, and this blog. Not untypical, or sadly, unexpected. But then, why would we expect any better?

More Newpoint Education Partners Gloriosity!!!

GLORIOSITY! It may not be a real word, but it is so truly appropriate for this "management company", don't you agree?

Check out the NBC affiliate in Miami's investigative piece from February:

NBCMiami.com Channel 6  (I especially LOVE the 1:59 mark where they highlight the "F" schools Newpoint "manages" in the state. In case you have forgotten, that would be BOTH of their Pinellas County schools, one of which is the esteemed "F" School Windsor Prep )

Trolling

So, teachers have tried following by signing on with their kids social media accounts. (Yes..I figured you out, lol.)
Now Mr "Bill, Windsor parent" thinks that by adding a (maybe real, maybe not) last name to a brand new account, that has had no interaction with anyone or anything, qualifies as not anonymous.

Let. Me. Type. This. Real. Slow. So. The. Parents. And. Staff. Of. "F School Windsor Prep"  Can. Follow. Along.

Sound it out. Enunciate. Use phonics if it helps.

Newpoint Education Partners is like comedy gold...

Seriously. It's like the gift that keeps on giving.

Letter from Adam Emerson, Florida Dept of Education to Carla Lovett of Newpoint Education Partners

Boom! Denied!  And lest you forget, these are the guys that oversee "F" school Windsor Prep (insert smiley face, ROFL, etc)

Windsor Education LLC, NewPoint Education Partners, White Hat, and you (or rather your tax dollars

"Is a Florida company run by former White Hat Management employees carrying on the White Hat tradition of poor performance and incompetent school management? White Hat’s problems in Ohio are well documented.

Former White Hat employees launched at least two other companies, Cambridge Education Group and Newpoint Education Partners. Newpoint is affiliated with at least two other companies, Midwest Education Partners LLC and Windsor Education LLC. It’s this last company that seems to be bungling school operations in Florida."
** taken from
http://cashinginonkids.com/blogs/charter-school-kicks-dozens-students-days-school-year-begins/

Seriously. Newpoint oversees "F" school Windsor Prep. YIKES!!

You can't make this stuff up.

InWeekly.net

One would certainly hope so: Maybe it's a good idea to know who is really in charge of these schools

Podcast about Charters: http://ricksblog.biz/ps-podcast-charter-schools-cashing-in-on-kids/

and this gem: shady much?

So, to summarize, NewPoint schools have been investigated for fudging enrollment to get more tax dollars, cheating, abuse of students, not being safe, shady real estate dealing to get more tax dollars, running more than a couple "F" schools like Windsor Prep.

It's like a comedy of errors.

Ongoing.....

"Charter schools are just the latest in a long line of get-rich-quick-schemes in the Sunshine State.
FEE’s Floridian roots do have one undeniable pedagogic function: they make the blatant hucksterism at the heart of the education reform movement much harder to deny. Florida, after all, has played host to more grand swindles than any other state. Charter schools, which are publicly funded but privately run, are just the latest in a long line of get-rich-quick-schemes in the Sunshine State. Beneath today’s noble-sounding buzzwords—achievement, excellence, twenty-first-century skills—are the same murky land development deals, Republican politics, and taxpayer money that have become as emblematic of the Florida landscape as alligators and swimming pools."
The above taken from a great 2014 article: JebFest: The Education Miracle That Isn’t
Pretty much sums the whole Charter Schools game up, and it isn't getting any better.

Or how about this article from SeattleEducation2010 that was posted in 2012: Florida charter schools and the lack of oversight . It reinforces the problems that have been ongoing for a VERY LONG TIME here is Florida.

It's all out there for us to find folks. Not just articles, but FACTS. Research the names, the companies, and the schools. You will be appalled at where your tax dollars are going.

This isn't just about assholes or parking. That's just what started it. And the people who defend the stuff I am discovering should be ashamed.

They do nothing now so why do they need more money?

Does this mean the people who suffer under the rule of the Who Cares How Much It Costs kingdom can actually expect their law enforcement officers to start working?

Maybe  now they can afford to send them to traffic enforcement school.

http://www.baynews9.com/content/news/baynews9/news/article.html/content/news/articles/bn9/2015/5/26/pinellas_sheriff_on_.html

How does this make them better than public school?

Because this is how they taught their students last year....

Instructional Programs and Strategies Instructional Programs -

Describe how the school ensures its core instructional programs and materials are aligned to Florida's standards :

Windsor Prep Academy currently implements the Florida Standards as outlined by our school district. Windsor Prep revamped its curriculum to ensure that all are aligned to Pinellas County Schools. This not only ensures that Windsor is using the most up to date and appropriate curriculum for our students, but also allows our staff the opportunity to attend professional development that is offered in the district.
Additionally, there are many online resources, calendars and curriculum guides that are  utilized at Windsor Prep that are also utilized in Pinellas.
Windsor Prep administration and staff also regularly attend professional development that is designed to support the latest Florida Standards and provide assistance to teachers with effective implementation (probably mostly comprised of free training resources from the County)

Nope, no conflict of interest here folks

Isn't it nice to know the Deputy who responded out to our neighborhood  multiple times came out with no agenda? No predisposition towards Windsor Prep, the "F" school. None whatsoever?

Oh...wait..there's this:

It's always about the $$$$$

The structure of Charters is slim shady at best.

The school itself may be non-profit, but remember, the parent company does not have to be.

The school rents the land and building from the parent company which keeps the school cleanish, but rakes in millions for the companies that own them. It's quite a scheme.

http://www.wtsp.com/story/news/investigations/2014/08/21/charter-school-profits-on-real-estate/14420317/

Even if the school goes belly up, the parent companies own the property, buildings, equipment, etc, and can sell that off with no money coming to the local community that funded it through taxes.

At least the Taj Mahal Sheriff Bob built up in Largo is something the county owns.
Granted it is an $84million field of dreams that has kept absolutely none of his promises to the citizens of our county and granted he sits pretty in his lovely offices, and super duper new conference room, but at least he can't sell it and profit off of us all.

Joke of the day...traffic enforcement

ENFORCEMENT
Enforcement may be considered education through experience due to lack of knowledge, error, or careless behavior on the part of the driver, bicyclist, motorcyclist, or pedestrian. Being cited for a moving traffic violation or receiving a ticket is certainly learning the hard way.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO)(hahahahahahahahaha), the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), and 13 municipal law enforcement agencies are responsible for upholding and implementing Florida traffic laws. (That was the funniest punchline ever, huh?)

(Note: other jurisdictions actually do enforce traffic laws...guess their wives aren't the assistant to the Principal like our great ,helpful Deputy Dressbeck's wife is. But that isn't a conflict of interest, huh?)

Such law enforcement covers 25 jurisdictions within Pinellas County . The MPO works with law enforcement by providing traffic crash data which assists them in determining the possibility of placing officers at high crash locations.

School Districts managing Charters?

Maybe things would be better if more local school districts managed Charters. Wait, did I say maybe?

It would certainly lead to better oversight of how our tax dollars are being squandered and manipulated for profit by the shady real estate dealings these schools conduct.

Additionally, it would perhaps prevent "F" schools like Windsor Prep from merely offering the same curriculum as the Pinellas County School district in their "improvement plan", yet still making their parent company TONS of money off the backs of hard working tax payers

Hmmm...what a concept

new subscriber: Second grade F*****g

Yay... a Windsor The "F" School staff member has subscribed to our Youtube Channel.
I believe she is the charmer that used to like to shout out how much her school "rocks" (remember..."F" school.) and mention how she would pray for my neighbors when she in fact would probably burst into flames if she walked into a church.  Keep on spreading the joy to the second graders :)
The more the merrier

This past years "improvement plan"

Of course without testing, there is no way to determine if in fact they have "improved" or if they remain an "F" school.

But do remember, if they do manage to drag themselves out of the "F" zone, it will be thanks to Pinellas County's public school curriculum, and teaching methods.

Now, would that make it great to be "F" School Windsor Wildcats or Copycats? hhhmmmm
