So we all know what it's currently like every morning and afternoon.
Well now imagine this....
"Duval Park is an 88‐unit apartment community currently under construction in St. Petersburg, Pinellas
County. Per a site observation visit report dated January 5, 2015, the Development is approximately 13%
complete. Four of the 88 units are existing single family homes, and 84 units are new construction. The
Development has set‐aside 80% of its units (71) to Veterans and not less than 50% of the total Veteran
units(36) for Veterans with Special Needs, with 25% of the units(22 units) at or below 40% of Area Median
Income (“AMI”) and 75% of its units (the remaining 66 units) at or below 60% of AMI..." http://www.floridahousing.org/
Note that a great percentage will be " Veterans with special needs" and low income. There's a very good chance they won't have cars, and an even greater chance that they will have serious medical needs.
Now, picture this: (special thanks to my neighbor)

Now add an ambulance and fire truck to the mix, possibly responding to a life threatening emergency, as has happened before on the culdesac at the end of the street.
Further, picture the ambulance and fire truck trying to get into the neighborhood as the school enrollment continues to increase. Remember...they want 1000 kids between the two schools.
Now it's potential ( as though it hasn't been all along) to be a true hazard has increased exponentially.
Two times a day, over an hour each time, we worry about emergencies. A house catching fire...someone needing an ambulance...
And all this for an "F" graded school, with a mediocre staff, teaching the same curriculum as Pinellas County Public Schools, using the same methodolgy.
Is it really worth it? Can a bowl of noodles really make this better?
