An investigation by Adam Emerson, charter schools director, revealed that 80 items purchased with charter school program funds were delivered to Newpoint Schools in Escambia County. Sixty-five computers, tables and monitors meant for Newpoint Bay ended up in Escambia.
“This is a clear violation of CSP requirements, which restrict items purchased with CSP funds to schools that were awarded those funds,” Emerson wrote to John Stack, vice president of Newpoint operations..."

"... Bay District Schools provides Palm Bay and a new Central High School with its charters. Two year ago the Bay school board considered revoking Newpoint Bay’s charter because of financial discrepancies. One issue was a $160,000 draw on a line of credit that was apparent in NEP’s books but not Newpoint Bay’s.
“The problems we’ve had is that it’s always been Newpoint Education Partners,” School Board member Ginger Littleton said. “The money goes across this veil and then it comes into light when it gets to the local board. The management company has not been particularly forthcoming.”
On June 16, NEP was subject to a Florida Department of Education investigation that found that materials meant for schools, including some at Newpoint Bay, ended up in Escambia County. Before that, the Escambia County school district voted to revoke the charters of the Newpoint schools in the area, citing problems with record keeping for student credits..."
