Letter

It's been a long, and very active day. Before I sign off for the night though, I thought I would share the letter that I wrote to the Pinellas County School Board, as well as many others.

Although my voice has been heard here, and in the Tampa Bay Times articles, I decided to add an email too. Keeping it short and sweet was not easy, as there is so much that could and should be said.

But, short and simple is the way to go...

As a property owner and taxpayer in Pinellas County I am hopeful that the board will vote to shutter  Windsor Prep and East Windsor Middle School.

The tax payers both in our county, and the state, have poured Millions more than they should have been forced to. in order to keep all of these "former" Newpoint schools afloat.

And now we are to expect that a group of inexperienced parents, with no knowledge of how to run a school, and none of whom have been vetted to establish they are qualified, or frankly even that they are not criminals are expecting to be granted the opportunity to cost us even more money?

That is unacceptable.

I know the management company, Newpoint, is no longer involved, however the company that owns the property has direct ties back to Newpoint, Midwest, and ultimately Marcus May and David Stiles.

Further, I am  aware the Board Chairman Mr Pergolizzi has resigned, but again, that just leaves a group of inexperienced parents to try and clean up the mess and move forward. And they were not involved enough to have discovered any of this on their own, even at this stage. A blog had to reveal that information to them.

If they aren't aware or invested enough to even do the most basic research, how will they resurrect these two schools and move on?

How is that fair to the tax payers, or the kids, if and when they fail?

I know the board has been inundated with calls, emails, etc, and further, there will be a large turn out of sympathy seeking Windsor supporters, but I, and many tax payers implore all the School Board members to vote for the greater good.

To all the mayors and leaders of local communities, you will be able to absorb the children into their schools, as they will benefit from the tax dollars that are being poured into the mess that is Windsor Prep and East Windsor Middle School.

The parents and staff knew about the problems with Newpoint for two years and did nothing..they had their chance...now let us stop paying for it.

Again, it won't be a huge victory if these schools are shut down as far as their impact on the neighborhood. If they were shuttered, ore would open in their places, and with the same probles, issues, and concerns.

That said though....all of the above is true, and it matters.
