Indictments Galore..And The Tax Payers Keep On Paying

What a perfect ending to National Charter Schools Week and Teacher Appreciation Week...You seriously can not make any of this up.
So now dear readers...now there are criminal indictments..not just moral ones. Unfortunately none of this will result in jail time for any of the parties involved.

Really, does this really surprise any of you? I mean it seems like it's just finally catching up with them. If you have done any research, or read this blog for any length of time at all ( or even just came here to snag the info for your own blog - Rick Tra I am looking at you lol), then you already knew how dirty this operation is/was/has been.
On Wednesday, an Escambia County Grand Jury handed down indictments against Newpoint Education Partners, LLC, and three of it's vendors, School Warehouse, Inc.,Red Ignition, LLC.,  and Epiphany Management, LLC .  The Indictments were announced today.
The grand jury alleges that NEP and its vendors fraudulently billed 21st Century Academy hundreds of thousands of dollars for supplies, equipment and services. Newpoint and its vendors allegedly laundered the proceeds of the thefts through multiple bank accounts to conceal the criminal activity.
The indictments are based on a joint investigation by the State Attorney’s Office and the Escambia County School District.
"I’ve prosecuted charter schools before, but not this particular type of scheme," Assistant State Attorney Russell Edgar said. "I've prosecuted people involved with charter schools for committing theft of funds and prosecuted people for misusing children to work off campus during school, but this is the first time prosecuting a managing company."
Now..remember that $75,000 grant money they "returned" last year? Talk about things that make you go hhhhmmmmm....Boy, now I really can't wait to see what the audit results are.
Here is a link to the TampaBay Times article.
I wonder if we will see any similar actions taken here in Pinellas County. Frankly it seems probable, considering the sorry state they left Windsor Prep, East Windsor, and Newpoint High in, that there are many more criminal and fraudulent activities just waiting to be discovered.
Consider this company has opened at least fifteen schools in Florida alone. Of those, at least six have closed...many, if not all,  under a dark cloud of financial impropriety, and various educational failings ( much like Windsor Prep, and East Windsor Middle have experienced.
They continue to operate other companies such as Cambridge Management Group, Wellington Crossings, Windsor Education, and more ( here are links  to some of my previous posts , and here, herehere  and here.
And yet many of you harassed and harangued this blogger for those same posts.

Well, how do ya like me now?  Ha. Ha. Ha
