Ooh I bet everything has been spit shined and polished for today's visit by Pinellas County School Board Member Linda Lerner.
The teachers will all paste big grins on their faces, the children will be encouraged to say how much they love their school, any and every heartstring will be pulled in an effort to sway her to their side.
The thing is, no one is against them per se. Not even me and my hardened old heart.
No one hates kids, and any of us who have raised kids knows that parents always want what's best for them.
But, at what cost?
For now, the Pinellas County School Board is correct in issuing a ninety day termination notice to the schools involved.
There needs to be more than tears, pleading, a bully of a Senator, and hope to reverse this decision.
A viable plan of operations, an effective curriculum that you can prove you will provide, a budget along with a board that is truly qualified to oversee it, and more, is no small set of goals to meet...but you must.
It also wouldn't hurt to reach out to the community around you...just saying.
