Apparently the Pinellas County School Board isn't too terribly impressed by this move at all:
"Pinellas school officials reacted warily to the news of Alliance's latest move.
"We have no authority to say anything about a management company," said Rick Wolfe, the school district's charter director, adding he has not received any documentation about the acquisition. "I don't think (parents are) going to be happy because it looks like they're just switching horses."
Wolf said Alliance's chief operations officer, Justin Matthews, had submitted a "weak" charter school application to Pinellas in the past, and it was rejected.
He said superintendent Mike Grego asked him to look into Alliance.
"You don't move and just take over a company that's over a million dollars in debt," Wolfe said."
I particularly liked the part where the school's board chair Robert Pergolizzi said the acquisition is good news:
""Newpoint is history," he said. "Newpoint Education Partners no longer exists."
He said, "This is something we've been working on for weeks now," and added that parents had been notified. "I was aware of what was going on and I thought it was a good idea."
However, Pergolizzi was unaware that Alliance had ties to Imagine St. Petersburg. Asked if he had done research on Alliance, he did not answer."
Of course he didn't, hahahahaha.
Like I asked in previous posts, did you think this would be easy? Did you think you would win? Or did they just start a new shell game?
Laws in Florida are far different from laws in North Carolina, and some other states. Here they can get away with nearly anything, fold, reorganize, and open new schools. That's why you see so many of these folks involved in so many scandals,
Do some research folks...
